Sing the Song

Just been watching American Idols -
Now you might wonder what that could have to do with anything, but stay with me.
One contestant arrived there with a stack of notes about the physiology of singing.
It was a thick wodge of detailed teachings about the larynx and the trachea and other body parts connected, even remotely, with singing.
She studied those notes right up until the time she went in to sing for the judges.

While all the others around her were practising singing, she kept learning about the mechanics of singing.
She did not do well and was unhappy and confused because she had studied her notes so hard.

It made me think about walking with the Lord.
About how maybe we also can get bogged down with the theory of following Him; can give ourselves so much to know and remember that we lose the spontaneity of it -
The simple joy of it.

Knowledge of what the bible teaches is vital
But it needs to keep leading us deeper into a living relationship with the God of the bible
As Jesus Himself said to the religious leaders of the day, who diligently studied their religious writings:
"You search the scriptures thinking that you will gain eternal life by them but you refuse to come to Me"

What He offered was simple -
This invitation:
"Come to Me" "Follow Me"
But so many of them just kept their noses in their books and thus missed the very fulfillment of what those words were promising
When He was standing right in front of them.
They missed it. . .

Like that girl.
If she had only just loved the singing and the song
And kept singing . . .

Hi Allie
You hit the nail on the head. Being a born again Christian is a change of the heart. Only God can make the change. We can have all the wisdom in the world but if we don't put our faith in Jesus Christ, we won't have eternal life.
Ephesians; 2:8-9
(For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.)

Have a great day Allie!!!
